How can Motor Tics be Managed Through Homeopathy and Vitamins?

A motor tic is a sudden, repetitive, involuntary movement that involves a specific muscle group. These movements can be simple (like blinking, shoulder shrugging, or nose twitching) or complex (such as jumping, touching objects, or mimicking gestures). Motor tics are often seen in conditions like Tourette syndrome, but they can also occur temporarily due to stress, anxiety, or other neurological factors.

They typically worsen with stress or excitement and may improve with relaxation or focus.

Unlike habitual movements, tics are not consciously controlled and can be difficult to suppress.

My son has suffered on and off with motor tic from a very young age, use to be just small one like nose twitching and then for a period of time it would be gone after some homeopathic treatment. He recently started high school and increased sports commitment which has created a neck tic that quite extreme. This inspired me to write a blog about mineral deficiency that cause tic and homeopathic remedies that can help to relieve them.

Tic are more commonly found in males and this could be due to the increase need to zinc and its link to tics.

Vitamin and mineral

In a study done on 1000 + children it was found those with tics have lower level of zinc. cooper and iron. A blood test can determine how low the iron and zinc are but in growing boys the likelihood of these vitamins and mineral being low is common. esp those going through puberty.

Ofcourse I would also look at magnesium for tics

NAC - This has helped my son in the past with tics

L-theanine - If linked to ADHD and anxiety this could be considered alongside magniesum. best taken at night before bed.

Homeopathic remedies

Zinc Met - For body tics, head, arms, legs etc. Exhaustion both mental and physical. Frequency jerking motion. Anxiety. The person may repeat everything said to them.

Staph: Hysteria and violent movement often with suppressed anger.

Agaricus Muscarius: is indicated for tics such as blinking of eyes or twitching of the head.

Cuprum Met: is helpful in treating eye twitching. There often a lot of tension and possible cramping going on in the body.

Veratrum Album: is prescribed for tics that cause a person to repeat actions over and over again

Arg nit - For tic made worse by fears and anxiety. Bullying at school for example and the tic start monday evening or night before school or is worse after school.

Hyoscyamus Niger: is best suited for treating tics like making grimaces or ridiculous gestures and where a person is impelled to touch everything.

Of course with homeopathy there many more option depending on the overall picture.

CranialScaral (CST)

As tic can occur due to a over active nervous system and anxiety CST can be very effective as it Relaxes the nervous system and stimulate vagus nerve. It also release any stuck emotion in the fascia and the cranium which can be part of the caustive factor in tics.

My son story

I used CranialScaral, Zinc, Magniesum, L- theanine, Homeopathic Zinc Met and Iron the tic was 50% better day one and by day two it hasnt come back yet. Mind you I ma writting this blog day 2. However this follow the trend of past experience with tics.
