The Immune system - What you need to know.

I am sure by now we have all started to feel the winter chill set in, and some of us have already started to get colds.

Coming into contact with bacteria and viruses is unavoidable unless you live in a bubble. How our bodies react to the bacteria and viruses we come in contact with all depend on how healthy our overall system is to begin with. Factoring also into this is how we treat the condition we currently have, as to how long we will suffer from it and how how much we weaken or strengthen our immune system because of the treatment we have chosen.

The first and most important factor to a healthy immune system is the digestion. If there is inflammation and disfunction then not only will you suffer more often from viruses but have a harder time recovering from them. So take a good look at your gut and if their is pain, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea then it is an area that needs to be further looked at and healed.

Healing doesn't mean covering it up with some probiotics, It means looking at all the aspects of your digestion and finding the root cause then healing that. This could be food intolerance, leaky gut, IBS (stress). parasites or an emotional aspects.

We then need to have a look at the nutritional bases of your lifestyle and diet, If there is a lack of a key vitamin or mineral that functions to make your immune system optimal, then again you will have a disadvantage in optimal immune function.

Examples include Vitamin C, Zinc and Vitamin D.

Most of Australia has a Vitamin D deficiency and if it becomes to low what occurs is an increase in the number of upper respiratory infections. The natural way to boost your vitamin D level is by having cod liver oil especially great in children as it also contain vitamin A and Omegas.

Vitamin C depletes quickly when the body is attacking viruses so supplement with vitamin C or increasing your uptake of organic oranges, mandarins is a good way of supporting the bodies immunity.

maintaining a healthy lifestyle and reducing your stress levels all benefit the immune system.

Homeopathic can be very beneficial in the event of a cold or flu- choosing the right remedy according to your symptoms will act fast and be very effective. Homeopathy also has a way of strengthening your overall vitality by helping the body fight it own battle, by doing so the body becomes more capable of fighting of viruses when presented with them for a second time.

Avoid the use of antibiotic when they are not necessary, most cold and flu's are virus based and antibiotic will not work on them, all you are doing is causing your digestion the main source of your immunity to be bulldozed and wiped out. You will also as research as recently proven cause antibiotic resistance bacteria to form, from just one dose of antibiotic, meaning when you do actually need them for a bacterial infection you can not shift they will not work anymore.

Avoid the use of ibuprofen and the likes for fevers unless absolutely needed. Fever is a good sign, it means your body is attacking the bacteria and killing it of, as it can only live at a certain temperature. If you bring it down your prolonging your illness and making it worse. There are method, in which you can stay comfortable during a fever and naturally
